This is the sixth of eleven observations I shared during my part in the conversation about Pen-to-Publication (see blog entry for 24 February 2012).
Things I’ve overheard in the last few weeks:
“People will always want physical books.”
“There’s still a market for books: they’re portable and you don’t need electricity to read them.”
“If an e-reader gets dropped in a puddle or in the bathtub water, they’re ruined.”
“I prefer to read a real book in bed, it’s much more intimate.”
“I love my _____ (iPad, Kindle, Nook, Sony Reader)! I can have thousands of books with me when I travel. I can keep up with all my subscriptions, without the hassle of a heavy bag and all that paper.”
“Poetry works better on a printed page.”
“With eBooks the possibilities for augmented reality are amazing! You can add sound, film, 3-dimensions. It’s a much richer experience than pigment and paper.”
“Paper and ink are a lot easier on the eye than a glass surface with light behind it.”
What do you think?
