birthday calendar

I’ve admired the work of botanical artist Gusta van Dobbenburgh for many years. It was wonderful to collaborate with her on this project. Gusta’s style is lyrical and luminous. I wanted to echo these qualities in the calendar’s page design, which is understated and allows the artwork to interact playfully with the surrounding text elements. Windsong, a contemporary handwriting-inspired script, was chosen for the way it lilts and loops to match the forms in Gusta’s renderings. The calendar is printed on creamy white paper in order to match the quality of the original art.
